Spatial Concepts

Spatial concepts, or the concepts related to the space around us, are the pre-math concepts that a child must know while embarking on the journey of learning math.

Spatial concepts provide a basic understanding of concepts relating to our surroundings, such as :

  • Big – Small
  • Up – Down
  • Open – Close
  • Same – Different
  • Left – Right
  • In – Out
  • Full – Empty
  • LightHeavy
  • More – Less

These concepts describe our relationship with our surroundings. Pre-math skills are vital for kids because they help set up the foundation for problem-solving skills.

In today’s teaching and learning environment, we strongly advocate for kids’ holistic learning through the 3H approach, which integrates the heart (feelings), hands (involvement), and head (understanding), leading to an optimal combination of emotional connections, practical abilities, and intellectual discoveries.

❤️ Heart : The “Heart” refers to the emotional side of learning. Taking the 3H approach into account, we recommend that you involve your children in learning spatial concepts through captivating stories that may be utilised for role-playing and skits, resulting in a fun and constructive experience for them. ✋ Hand :  The “hands” refers to participating in hands-on activities and acquiring practical skills. We all know that children love to learn by doing; therefore, our hands-on approach emphasises the component of learning that requires the application of practical skills. 🧠 Head : The “head” symbolises the intellectual or cognitive side of learning. It includes problem-solving and analytical abilities. Learning requires practice and testing of understanding of concepts. An extensive bag of practice problems and solved worksheets on spatial concepts is only a click away!
