Speed: Get Set Go!
Learning average can be made enjoyable by incorporating interactive games and activities.
This is one of the most interesting activities to learn the concept of speed:
- Divide the kids into different groups.
- Distribute a ball, stopwatch, measuring tape, pen, and notepad to each group.
- Instruct each group to roll their ball and measure the distance covered by the ball with a measuring tape.
- Record the time by using a stopwatch.
- Introduce the formula to determine speed:
- Speed = Distance ÷ Time
- Instruct each group to use their specific values of distance and time to calculate the speed of their ball.
- For example, if the distance covered by the ball is 14m in 2 seconds, then on putting values in the formula:
- Speed = Distance ÷ Time
- = 14 ÷ 2
- = 7 m/s
